International Committee to Report on Israel’s Third Sector

Some of the top philanthropic minds in the world recently gathered at an International Conference hosted by Yad Hanadiv to promote the creation of a vision and set of concrete recommendations that might help to catalyze the development of evidence-based work in Israel’s non-profit sector. The Committee included: Fay Twersky, Director Impact Planning and Improvement, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (Chair), Paul Brest, President, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Martin Brookes, Chief Executive, New Philanthropy Capital, and Carla Javits President, REDF. A preliminary landscaping of current practices in the use of evaluation of programs, performance indicators and outcome measures and capacities was conducted over the past few months. Committee members met with a wide range of non-profit and foundation leaders and professionals, donors, Government officials, intermediary organiszations, professional evaluators and relevant Academic faculty. With the conclusion of the visit committee members presented preliminary analysis and ideas to a group of about 70 stakeholders and will complete a report over the next few weeks.
