How Many Jews Are In America? Depends Whom You Ask

The North American Jewish Data Bank has released the latest population studies as they appear in the American Jewish Year Book: Jewish Population in the United States 2012 by Drs. Ira Sheskin and Arnold Dashefsky, and World Jewish Population 2012 by Dr. Sergio DellaPergola. And, as usual, the two surveys differ significantly on the American Jewish population.

According to the former, the U.S. Jewish population stands at 6,722,000 (page 4) and according to the latter, 5,425,000 with Israel at 5,901,100 (page 11).
