Golda Meir Photo Exhibition Highlights Limmud FSU NY Festival

More than 900 Russian-speaking Jews from across the country will gather today for the annual sold-out Limmud FSU New York Festival. A highlight this year is the opening of a special photographic exhibition about the life of the late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir and a panel on women as global political leaders.

The volunteer-driven weekend festival will feature an eclectic lineup, from a gala concert performance by Israeli singer-songwriter and activist David Broza to a morning boot camp to spiritually refreshing Shabbat and Havdalah ceremonies. The conference will offer more than 100 diverse sessions, on issues such as combating the BDS movement; how the Holocaust will be remembered by future generations; “The War of the Wall,” a roundtable discussion on how history, theology and politics collide in the conflict over access to Jerusalem’s Western Wall; and on global Russian-Jewish identity.

The photo exhibition, “Where are all the women leaders? A tribute to Golda Meir” (curated by Yoram Dori and Yoel Rapel) will celebrate Meir as history’s only woman Mideast leader and will be followed by a special panel discussing the scarcity of women political leaders and its impact.
