Limmud Conference: 30 Years and Still Learning

From Russia’s Far East to Los Angeles; from the UK to Australia; Limmud has exploded across the global Jewish landscape. Now 30 years old, this hugely successful initiative in informal Jewish education shows no signs of age. This summer alone brought events around the world, including Limmud Fest in the UK, Limmud in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, Buenos Aires and New Zealand along with Limmud FSU programs in Jerusalem and WestHampton, New York. Philanthropy’s Tipping Point

Despite greater awareness and the fact that the trajectory of women’s philanthropy is escalating exponentially, we haven’t reached the tipping point or begun to realize the benefits of women’s giving capacity, participation and leadership. The research unquestionably shows that women have the desire, drive and capacity to give, but society and nonprofit professional practice have yet to catch up. Women’s philanthropic clout is clear. UJA-Federation NY Connects Community to High Holiday Services

UJA-Federation of New York’s J-1-1 Information and Referral Center connects people to High Holiday services by referring them to local synagogues that are open to nonmembers during the holiday season. Those in need of a synagogue to observe the High Holidays, including Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, are urged to contact J-1-1. UJA-Federation’s J-1-1 Information and Referral Center is a free and confidential telephone referral service available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 1.877.852.6951 or J11@ujafedny.org. Telephone messages and e-mails received after 3:30 p.m. will be responded to the next business day.
