According to CBS Las Vegas, Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson are contributing $50 million to the Adelson Educational Campus in Las Vegas. The campus consists of three schools catering to about 600 students, from age 18 months to 12th grade.

Mrs. Adelson says the school was developed with the learning environment in her alma mater in mind. She attended Reali School in Haifa, Israel, which she said had more than just high academic standards, but was dedicated to instilling values and friendships for life.

Additional gifts last year by the Adelson’s to the Jewish world included $33 million to the Birthright Israel Foundation, ($20-million to match donations from other donors); also the couple pledged $3-million to Hebrew SeniorLife for housing facilities and a program to bring together older people and elementary-school students for education programs; $2-million to Gateways: Access to Jewish Education for programs for children with special needs; and $1-million to the Chelsea Jewish Foundation for specialized housing for patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and multiple sclerosis.
